Samsung has a great idea, unfortunately not widely used: to make its top-of-the-range flagship into a compact version. The Galaxy S10e thus aims to be usable with only one hand, without sacrificing any of the refinements of a high-flying phone.
The Korean brand has kept for this Galaxy S10e all the beautiful finishes set up for its big brother, and the very small edges of the screen allow you to enjoy your smartphone with only one hand but with a beautiful slab. On the other hand, ergonomics suffers from the placement of physical keys, which is not very logical or practical, which penalizes the natural good use of the smartphone, especially for left-handed people. It will be necessary to reconfigure the button dedicated to Bixby, the Samsung assistant having little use here. As for the fingerprint reader, it does not naturally fall under the fingers, and facial recognition may be preferred. On the other hand, the IP68 certification that guarantees waterproofness is present, and the micro-SD port will extend the already very generous internal memory.
With its 5.8-inch panel, the Samsung S10e still has a beautiful display surface, which as always at Samsung is of very good quality. Very richly defined, with 2280 pixels by 1080 in resolution, it does not tire the eyes. The infinite contrast and brightness, ideal in all circumstances, also contribute to the pleasant character of this tile. Finally, the respect of the colours is total, and there is no deviation in the general equilibrium.
The sound is here again a great success for Samsung, which persists in offering a headphone output and particularly takes care of this one, of excellent level. The Samsung Galaxy S10e is also equipped with very satisfying speakers.
In power, the smartphone is never at risk, regardless of the open application. Everything follows on in a constant flow, and all this without heating. The games are just as fluid, even with a plethora of graphic details.
When it comes to photography, the Samsung Galaxy S10e has "only" two lenses left, compared to three for the large model. A 12 million pixel sensor goes hand in hand with the 16 million pixel wide-angle sensor. The first one gives excellent images in full light, very rich and flattering but unfortunately which could have gained in homogeneity in the corners in particular. In the dark, this smartphone gets away with it again in a nice way, with details and a clear scene, which however is a little unnatural. The sensor that provides the wide angle also does very well when the light is there, but is more at risk when it decreases, with a marked electronic noise. The sensor dedicated to selfies will satisfy the most demanding, and the video mode is irreproachable with a stabilization that works perfectly.
In autonomy, this Galaxy S10e is quite disappointing and hardly manages to go more than a day without having to be connected, which is quite far from what the competition offers in the same sector. Samsung must do better.
