Our opinion
The mid-range also interests OnePlus, and the brand had already succeeded in its first attempt with the North. Here it is revisited, increased for this second version, the 5G in bonus.
The design of this Nord 2 5G does not lack qualities, with a solid Gorilla Glass 5 coating, which does not take fingerprints, all with a beautiful color and impeccable finishes in terms of quality. The front panel is generally well optimized, even if we could have hoped for a less prominent lower edge. If the keys fall naturally under the fingers, the absence of any waterproofing is a bit regrettable.
The screen of this Nord 2 5G promises on paper, with nice features such as a refresh rate that goes up to 90 Hz, a generous definition of 2400 by 1080 pixels or a pleasant elongated format. But it's the color rendering that falls short of what you'd expect, with temperatures a bit off, but it's at least possible to manage the differences. If the brightness is good, we must beware of reflections to avoid being dazzled.
In terms of performance, OnePlus promised a lot with its little processor. If the management of current applications and multitasking are perfectly managed by this Nord 2 5G, there is a little to complain about the video game experience. You have to engage the "performance" mode, with its slightly higher battery consumption, to have the equivalent of the competition.
There are two main sensors on this smartphone, the third simply supporting the sensor of 50 million pixels. This one is not necessarily very convincing, due to a strong accentuation and poorly rendered colors, while the details are well present. There is also a smoothing too marked when the light conditions deteriorate. The ultra-wide angle module suffers from the same defects, with a slight blur that does not help. This somewhat dull rendering, in all circumstances, is unfortunately also found on selfies, despite the 32 million pixels, and the smoothing of faces is not always well managed. The portrait mode, on the other hand, is more than adequate, and video capture benefits from a very effective stabilization.
The autonomy of this Nord 2 5G is very satisfactory and reaches two days without worrying before having to recharge. Very good point, this one is very fast with the supplied charger, very powerful!
