Our opinion
Solidly established among the brands that count in the world of smartphones, OnePlus continues to evolve its range and offers with this OnePlus 10 Pro its candidate for the high-end, with some nice qualities to show.
Everything in the design of this device reminds us of its premium positioning, with a beautiful anthracite color, frosted glass for the back and a well-integrated photo module. The edges of the screen are thin and the front photo sensor is easy to forget, but its generous dimensions may - as is often the case with today's smartphones - pose some problems for the smallest hands to use it properly. The only real criticism is the absence of waterproofing, which was present on the OnePlus 9 Pro, a choice that is difficult to justify. Good point for the quality of the two speakers, which make a very correct sound overall.
The screen of this smartphone has a slightly elongated format, with a generous size (6.7 inches diagonal) and a very generous resolution (which can indeed go up to 3216 by 1440 pixels) that gives it a remarkable thinness when viewed. The refresh rate is clearly not for nothing, with a peak at 120 Hz. Nothing to complain about on the brightness, which allows to use the slab without worries in all circumstances, all with an infinite contrast. With a little choice in the display settings, we get a color rendering (almost) perfect, quite in the standard of the best.
If the power of the OnePlus 10 pro is not in doubt on a normal use, the chip it embeds shows serious limits in a playful setting. Nothing very serious, but we can clearly expect a high-end model to provide a smoother experience, without compromise, and this smartphone remains below the best performances of the competition.
For photography, OnePlus hasn't changed its configuration much from last year with a wide-angle main module with 48 million pixels. It takes pictures in 12 million pixels, and forces a little too much on the contrast of the image, but the image is still qualitative, well exposed and with beautiful colors. This unfortunately tends to spoil a little in a scene a little dark with details quite affected. When the sensor uses its full resolution, the shots don't benefit that much. The ultra-wide angle module and its 50 megapixels is not a success either: it lacks sharpness, dynamism and details, drowned in smoothness despite a good exposure. Even the module dedicated to the telephoto lens struggles and the rendering lacks contrast. On the other hand, we must note the great quality of the portrait mode and the selfies which are rendered with a very beautiful precision. For video capture, the stabilization is a real asset and proves to be very useful.
