Our opinion
With this model 7, OnePlus intends to confirm its position as a rising player in the smartphone sector, by combining a very strong design with attractive features for this OnePlus 7 with its many advantages.
There is already this usual design in the brand, and it is still making its mark through its elegance and ability to stand out from the rest of the competition. The finishes are of very good quality, but it is still very large and therefore difficult to use with one hand, despite a well optimized front panel. At the level of regrets, one can note the absence of the waterproofness, announced by OnePlus but not certified, which will limit the desire to test it by oneself, and the impossibility to add a micro-SD card. As for the fingerprint reader, it is under the screen, which saves space if it is not very fast.
With a diagonal of 6.41 inches, this smartphone's faceplate makes a great impression. It has outstanding qualities in all respects, with irreproachable color fidelity, rendered realistically and without any drift. The brightness of the display allows it to cope with any situation without any problems, and the infinite contrast also contributes to the visual comfort of this OnePlus 7.
The absence of a mini-Jack port is really annoying, especially since there are no adapters supplied with, just earphones in this format. On the other hand, the presence of two loudspeakers makes it possible to benefit from a stereo of beautiful holding, not perfect but a real asset to watch a video or listen to a podcast.
The performance is there for this smartphone, richly endowed in terms of processor and memory. It is possible to launch a large number of applications without ever encountering slowdowns or other problems. For gaming, the OnePlus 7 also stands out, but beware of its hot spots, which are very localized but still sensitive during long gaming sessions.
For photography, OnePlus has not gone overboard by multiplying the number of photo lenses. One main lens, supported by another for focusing, is enough for this smartphone, which is doing rather well overall. In a favorable light environment, there's not much to complain about, except that the exposure could have been better managed and flattened the pictures a bit, even though it's still very bearable. In the dark, the smoothing is a little too pronounced and it affects the image, even if it is still acceptable. This is also a concern for the front sensor, which is also doing well. Be careful with the portrait mode, which smoothes out the bright areas a little too much. The video capture, on the other hand, is beyond reproach.
In terms of autonomy, this OnePlus 7 gives quite classic scores, with about a day and a half of use before it needs to be recharged.
