Apple continues its market segmentation with a top of the range considered as "Pro", which are the extension of the classic models, but with the latest technological refinements. This iPhone 14 Pro follows in the footsteps of the classic model by bringing some features.
It's a smartphone that obviously remains true to the habits of very high-level finish that we have in our hands, with a design without frills but iconic. If the weight of the device is noticeable, it remains manageable and the overall ergonomics do not suffer at all thanks to dimensions that are well proportioned. Moreover, if you are familiar with the Apple universe, you will find the same keys in the same place. The new good point is the reduction of the notch on the screen, but on the negative side, it should be noted that the photo island is a little more prominent, which creates a slight imbalance when the smartphone is placed. All the latest standards are present, such as Bluetooth 5.3 and eSIM cards, and the presence of the IP68 standard that offers real waterproofing is a very good point.
The screen has a diagonal size now in the low range (6.1 inches diagonal), but all its features are at the top. We benefit from an impeccable brightness, perfect for sunny days and outdoor use, an infinite contrast and a very low remanence. The calibration of the colors is once again perfect and they are returned with fidelity and balance. The resolution of 2556 by 1179 pixels ensures a fine display, which will not tire the user, even over a long period.
On this iPhone 14 Pro, we find a photo configuration with three sensors. The most classic sensor displays 48 million pixels when using the pixel bining technique, but the initial shots are taken with 12 million pixels. Apple has opted for realistic shots, which can almost seem a little neutral, but we will only regret the small lack of detail in places. If we find the same small problems in poor lighting conditions, it is not a problem and the scene remains legible and is rendered with fidelity. The sensor in charge of the ultra wide angle manages well the distortion inherent to this type of lens, and for the rest we note the same small concerns of details and rendering as on the main lens. The zoom, on the other hand, makes a very nice impression, with flattering detail and faithful colors. Another success, the portrait mode, which almost without any concern to the faces, but it is especially the front sensor that shows very good results with a powerful autofocus and a maximum of details captured. There's nothing wrong with the video part, but we know that on this point, Apple has always made sure to offer a quality experience and there is a plethora of features.
This iPhone 14 Pro makes the most of its battery, which is not impressive on paper. Despite its reduced capacity, you can enjoy your iPhone for a long day without having to think about recharging it, but there is one drawback: the time it takes to charge it is still as long as ever because of Apple's refusal to make it fast-charging.
