Our opinion
Every year, Samsung makes a few tweaks to its flagship smartphone, always part of the Galaxy S series. This Galaxy S26 introduces a few new features and quietly positions itself in the high-end market.
In terms of design, Samsung has once again opted for simplicity and compactness. The Galaxy S26 boasts dimensions that are reasonable, to say the least, making it very comfortable to use with one hand, with physical buttons that feel natural under the fingers. This is made possible in particular by the smartphone’s slim bezels and lightweight materials (glass and aluminum), which don’t compromise on durability—it’s also water-resistant, certified to the IP68 standard. It’s a shame, however, that the camera bump is a bit prominent and throws the device slightly off-balance when laid flat. The on-board connectivity standards are up to date, ensuring a long lifespan.
As always, Samsung has equipped this smartphone with a stunning display. With a reasonable screen size in an era of ever-larger smartphones (6.3-inch diagonal), this panel is highly detailed—1080 by 2340 pixels—and since the refresh rate can go up to 120 Hz, visual comfort is always a given. The brightness is impressive and allows you to ignore glare even in direct sunlight. By selecting Natural mode, the color rendering is perfectly balanced.
In terms of power, the Samsung Galaxy S26 features a proprietary chip that is certainly capable. With generous RAM, performance is already perfectly smooth for everyday use. And when you launch a game—even a recent, graphics-intensive one—there’s no lag, and the gaming experience is flawless.
Photography is handled by three complementary modules on the back of the Galaxy S26. There’s nothing to complain about regarding daytime photos from the main sensor—a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens—which produces highly detailed images with accurate colors and excellent sharpness. It’s also worth noting the impressive performance in low-light conditions, which is quite satisfactory thanks once again to the presence of both color and detail. Unsurprisingly, the 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module struggles a bit at the edges of images, but the results are still very acceptable, and sharpness remains strong. This performance drops slightly in poor lighting conditions, but it remains acceptable. As for the telephoto lens and its 3x zoom, it again delivers high-quality results, with beautiful colors and detail. Unfortunately, low light during shooting puts this Galaxy S26 lens to the test, resulting in degraded shots.
Otherwise, the front-facing camera delivers high-quality selfies as always, with fairly natural color reproduction, and the portrait mode is precise. Video recording is supported up to 8K with smooth playback.
As for battery life, Samsung does well given the modest size of the battery compared to industry standards. You can get this Galaxy S26 to last a day and a half without having to worry too much about the battery or charging it. It’s a shame, however, that charging isn’t particularly fast and requires waiting quite a while to fully charge the device.
