Our opinion
With the Ultra versions of its flagship models, Samsung consistently promises top-of-the-line features, aiming to position itself in the very high-end segment and showcase its technical expertise.
At first glance, this Galaxy S26 Ultra closely resembles its predecessor, with nearly identical weight and dimensions; the most notable change is the return to aluminum as the primary material, which is highly effective at dissipating heat and cost-effective. The overall design, however, is more rounded, a feature that extends even to the stylus. The smartphone is certainly elegant, with slim bezels and physical buttons that feel natural under the fingers, but it remains bulky and difficult to use for those with smaller hands, and the rear camera module prevents the phone from sitting steadily on a table. Sturdy and IP68-certified for water resistance, the Galaxy S26 Ultra also stands out as durable, featuring all the latest standards and technologies.
Samsung maintains its reputation for excellence with the display on this Galaxy S26 Ultra. It naturally features a high resolution (1440 by 3120 pixels) for crisp, detailed visuals and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, providing a smooth, eye-friendly viewing experience. The very high brightness and well-controlled glare allow you to use this smartphone in very bright environments without any issues. With infinite contrast and highly accurate colors (with a quick tweak in the settings), this display lives up to its promises. But what sets it apart is the option to enable a privacy mode, which hides sensitive information from prying eyes: impressive, and sometimes very useful in crowded environments. Note that this feature, as you might expect, reduces the brightness.
Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s power allows it to handle everyday tasks with ease, where it proves particularly fast and responsive. The gaming experience is obviously on par, and even the latest and most demanding games will run at maximum detail without ever slowing down.
For photography, Samsung has equipped the device with four camera modules. The first one has a resolution of up to 200 million pixels, but by default captures 50-megapixel images through pixel binning; the 200-megapixel capability is actually used only for cropping. There’s nothing to complain about when it comes to photo quality: there’s plenty of detail, beautiful colors, and excellent consistency across the entire scene. Low light is no match for the S26 Ultra’s camera, and the results remain both flattering and true to life. The 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module performs admirably, with just a slight loss of quality at the edges of the image. The 50-megapixel telephoto module (equivalent to 5x zoom) struggles slightly with the finest details, but the results are still very acceptable—though the low-light conditions do temper this assessment. With 10 megapixels, the 3x zoom doesn’t deliver very satisfying results and feels somewhat unnecessary.
