Our opinion
A slightly adjusted version of the Galaxy S20, this FE (for Fan Edition) version of a flagship model of the Korean manufacturer is not lacking in appeal and could well find its place in the plethora of Samsung's range.
The different and more affordable positioning is measured from the start with the available colors, more varied, and the plastic back for the shell, which does not really take away from the elegance and proves to be resistant enough without taking fingerprints. The general ergonomics are good, but you'll need big hands to handle it without worries and especially to access the physical keys on the right edge. Fortunately, the fingerprint reader is under the screen and proves to be very effective and the waterproofing is there.
The large diagonal of the screen (6.7 inches) does not prevent it from meeting Samsung's standards of excellence. If it does not have a maximum resolution, this slab remains perfectly defined and displays an infinite contrast and excellent brightness in all circumstances, if not a little too much reflection outside or in a bright environment. After a small turn in the settings, the colors are rendered with fidelity and precision.
You have to do without the mini-Jack port, which has definitely disappeared on recent smartphones. The speakers of this Galaxy S20 FE are not lacking in quality and will allow you to enjoy a nice external sound without too much trouble.
When equipped with a SnapDragon processor, the Galaxy S20 FE is perfectly fluid for any use, as we can expect from such a smartphone, including for games. On the other hand, some of the smartphones are less well equipped with another type of processor, less powerful, but in any case there are no major concerns to be noted.
For the photo, the Korean manufacturer has opted for a set of three sensors. The most classic is equipped with twelve million pixels, and if it does not escape some recurring defects at Samsung, such as color rendering, there is a very good level of detail and accuracy. This remains quite correct in difficult light conditions. The ultra wide angle module provides good results and sees its results degrade only on the extremities of the photos, but this is only valid in good light conditions, since the result in the dark is far too smooth to be usable. For the telephoto lens, it is an 8-megapixel sensor that officiates and the 3x zoom gets out with honors as long as the scene is well lit, the details disappearing along with the light. The module dedicated to selfies, on the other hand, is a real disappointment, with mediocre details and a lackluster rendering. Fortunately, the video capture turns out to be very successful and restores the general image of this Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.
Very good point on the autonomy of this smartphone, which combines a nice battery with economical components, and the result is there: two days of use without too many restrictions do not scare the Galaxy S20 FE.
