Our opinion
With iPhone 14, Apple launched a Plus range, with a focus on smartphone autonomy, and this iPhone 15 plus is indeed a boosted version of the classic model, with a few additions that might appeal to some users.
The size of this iPhone 15 Plus is the same as that of the Pro max, and this inevitably affects the grip, even if the rounded edges are very appreciable and the smartphone's weight is easily forgotten. This is made possible by the slim lines that give an impression of lightness, without any doubts about solidity. The colors offered by Apple are as original as they are flattering. In terms of connectivity, a uSB-c port is used for recharging and file transfer, a much more standard format and therefore easier to find.
As far as photography is concerned, we're back to the classic Apple formula with three photo sensors. The main one, with its 48 million pixels, is now well tried and tested at Apple, and has proven its worth, with its focal lengths, the quality of its rendering irreproachable in almost all conditions, with fine, fine detail and very well-managed exposure, and the overall picture degrades only slightly when light conditions become more complicated. The ultra-wide-angle module is equally seductive, with 12 million pixels enough to produce a fine image, with good sharpness, but unsurprisingly deteriorates when light is lacking. However, the absence of a real telephoto lens is to be regretted, as a dedicated photo sensor would have been welcome and consistent with the iPhone 15 Plus's price positioning. But this lack should not tarnish the overall picture, which is enriched by a hyper-complete and high-performance portrait mode, which allows you to play around with the focus afterwards, including for beautifully crafted selfies. As for video capture, this iPhone does just as well as its predecessors, with a wealth of options and settings to take video capture to the next level.
With this iPhone 15 Plus, Apple has gone all out to make its smartphone hyper-enduring, and it's a success with a device that, once charged, lasts a very, very long time. There's no need to worry about reconnecting your smartphone before almost two days of use, thanks to a generous battery. The only drawback is that recharging takes as long as ever.
