Our opinion
Google has successfully established its Pixel range throughout the tech world, with excellent smartphones as well as beautifully crafted smartwatches. The Pixel Watch 4 is therefore a great alternative for those who don't want an Apple Watch.
The design of this smartwatch is fairly classic, with rounded edges, and it is available in two dial sizes. While the finish is high quality and the buttons fall naturally under the fingers, be aware that it is only water-resistant to 50 meters: it's best to stick to showering and swimming with it. The plastic strap, although comfortable and high-quality, can be changed for a more elegant look. The Pixel Watch 4's screen is excellent, with sharp definition and thin bezels, and remains readable in very bright environments.
The Pixel Watch 4 benefits from the latest version of the in-house operating system and generous hardware configuration. However, there are occasional slowdowns, which is surprising and disappointing. There are several ways to navigate the interface, which is otherwise quite well designed and has a pleasing look. As it runs on a well-known operating system, it's very easy to find all the most common and useful apps. Finally, notifications are easy to read and the call mode is comfortable and audible. AI is obviously part of the package, easily accessible with a flick of the wrist, and via the dedicated app, you can configure many things via your smartphone.
The large number of built-in sensors allows you to collect a variety of data, mainly on health (heart rate, ECG sensor, temperature sensor, etc.), but also in terms of GPS. While the GPS can be a little unreliable at times, especially in city centers, there are no complaints about the rest, particularly heart rate, and for other metrics (stress, sleep, etc.), the data often matches users' perceptions, even if it cannot be measured objectively.
With a battery life of around two and a half days, the Pixel Watch 4 doesn't particularly stand out for its endurance, although it's not at the bottom of the rankings either. It takes around 50 minutes to fully charge this smartwatch.
