Our opinion
Apple continues to perfect its connected watch, which now has a fine track record and, as a result, has gained ever richer functionalities.
The design of this Apple Watch Series 9 is beautifully crafted, with the choice of a rectangular dial, and a thin, light watch. Be careful, however, to protect the watch properly, as the glass and case are virtually fused together, exposing the dial glass, whereas a sapphire crystal would have been more resistant.
The 1.9-inch diagonal display is just right for good luminosity. Apple has taken particular care with this, making the watch perfectly usable even in strong sunlight.
As far as the software is concerned, it goes without saying that the watch is totally interwoven with iOS and therefore the iPhone, and that an Android smartphone will be of virtually no use with an Apple Watch Series 9. In use, however, the watch's power makes it very pleasant to use on a daily basis, but it's the progress made in interweaving Siri, the voice assistant, that has the greatest impact on the experience. Once you've got the hang of using the touch screen, the physical keys and the scroll wheel, which are also perfectly usable in poor conditions (rain, etc.), it's a delight, and only in extreme situations (swimming pool, kitchen) are you ever bothered. There's still some optimizing to be done to make the experience even simpler, but Apple seems to be working on it.
To get the most out of this watch, you'll need to install up to 3 applications on your iPhone. You'll then be able to manage your updates, track your health indicators (sleep, number of steps, etc.), or even your physical fitness, and so perform fitness exercises, for example. The catalog of applications that can be installed on the watch to personalize it is quite extensive and qualitative.
While the Apple Watch Series 9 is not a sports watch like the Garmins, for example, it does provide excellent sports indicators, with precise GPS and heart rate tracking, for example, and supports swimming sessions very well.
Like all connected watches, the problem of battery life doesn't spare the Apple Watch Series 9, which runs out of power after an unexceptional time of about a day and a half if you're rather sedentary, and less if you're active with it.
