Our opinion
Xiaomi's range of smartphones covers all needs. The 13T pro is undoubtedly aimed at the top end of the market, while keeping the price down.
There's a choice of two smartphone skins, an elegant all-glass version but with highly visible fingerprints, and another with a similarly elegant but less stain-prone imitation leather. The Xiaomi 13T pro is clearly an imposing smartphone, despite an edge-free screen, and the grip is not necessarily suitable for smaller hands, not to mention a rather noticeable weight. On the other hand, there's nothing to complain about in terms of finish, which is right up there with the top of the range, and the presence of IP68 certification attesting to water-resistance is a good point. Connections and on-board technologies are of the highest quality and long-lasting.
The Xiaomi 13T Pro's generous screen measures 6.67 inches diagonally, with a generous resolution of 1220 by 2712 pixels, guaranteeing a fine display, and the refresh rate of up to 144 Hz also ensures comfortable viewing. Brightness is at a good level, enabling us to cope with all types of environments, although we'll have to watch out for the fairly pronounced reflections. With the right setting ("natural tones"), color rendering is particularly faithful, both in terms of temperature and fidelity. There's nothing to complain about in terms of the fluidity of the screen, which is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, not the latest model but still very solid.
The Xiaomi 13T pro has plenty of power for normal use, and even numerous applications open at the same time don't put a strain on it. It's when it comes to gaming that we can complain of a slight lack of power, but it's still more than enough to keep things running smoothly.
Xiaomi has opted for three complementary optics on the 13T Pro. The first, the main module, boasts fifty million pixels and proves to be of high quality in good lighting conditions. Textures are well rendered and sharpness is uniform across the scene, but red tones are a little saturated and there's a slight lack of precision. It's a little unfortunate, however, to note that darkness deteriorates the rendering, particularly on colors. The ultra-wide-angle module is a disappointment, as distortion and color problems are noticeable, which the Chinese manufacturer tries to mask with aggressive processing. Low light only accentuates these concerns.
The telephoto lens is a laudable attempt by Xiaomi to make the smartphone very versatile, and it's generally successful, except when looking at details. For the rest, portraits are more or less successful, the fault being a little too pronounced effects. While the front-facing lens for selfies is of good quality, you have to be wary of the "artistic" effects and smoothing that are sometimes a little too pronounced. There's nothing wrong with the video capture, which goes up to 8K.
In terms of battery life, the Xiaomi 13T pro easily lasts a day or more - a respectable score - but the device stands out for its charging time. With the charger supplied, this is extremely short (just over 20 minutes), and recharging never takes very long in any case, thanks to extremely fast recharging.
