Our opinion
As with every flagship model in its range, Samsung gives it an ultra version, which aims to offer maximum power and functionality, and so with no surprises, here's the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
In terms of design, however, it's very similar to the “classic” S25. It has a very flat, sober appearance, but the use of titanium as a material on the edges is welcome in terms of weight, which is consequently reasonable. If the smartphone remains large and heavy, it's contained, and its huge screen doesn't totally prevent it from being used by people with small hands. The S Pen stylus is still present, although it loses some of its Bluetooth functionality, but the rest is faultless, with all the latest connections. And of course there's the waterproofing, certified to IP68.
Samsung's reputation for excellent smartphone screens is once again confirmed on this Galaxy S25 Ultra. Very large, very well defined (1440 by 3120 pixels) for good reading comfort, and the adaptive refresh rate, which goes up to 120 Hz, ensures constant fluidity. Brightness, which can be very high, means that you don't have to worry about bright places, especially as reflections are very well managed. And what can we say about color fidelity, which is perfect (or almost) when you opt for natural rendering in the settings? A panel that's got everything right.
Needless to say, this Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts remarkable power, enabling it to maintain perfect fluidity in all circumstances. Games are no problem either, running at maximum detail without ever faltering, and without overheating.
Samsung has pulled out all the stops when it comes to photography, with four lenses on the rear of this Galaxy S25 Ultra. The main module, with 200 million pixels, combines pixels (for a total of 12 megapixels) for a very successful rendering, which relies on naturalness and well-rendered colors, despite a very slight loss of sharpness at the edges. In the dark, the smoothing is well dosed to maintain a good overall appearance. While it is possible to use the 200 megapixels, this results in very heavy files, barely useful for cropping. The 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module, with its basic 12-megapixel capability, is also a success, as long as the lighting conditions are good: darkness leads to the appearance of electronic noise, albeit moderate. The mode that uses all 50 million pixels is of little use. The two telephoto screens have 10 million and 50 million pixels respectively. The first, a x3 zoom, is very similar to that of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, with a qualitative rendering, which unsurprisingly deteriorates in the dark. The 50 megapixels enable a x5 zoom, with a realistic and pleasing result to the eye. Darker scenes pose problems for this lens, but they are well managed.
Selfies are as good as ever, and the portrait mode offers precise cropping and numerous options. There's also a function that lets you choose the best shot from a burst of photos. Video capture offers a plethora of options to satisfy even the most demanding and demanding users.
Without increasing the size of the battery, Samsung has succeeded in endowing its smartphone with excellent autonomy. More than a day's use without a thought of recharging is a fine score, even if the use of certain demanding functions obviously affects this result. The only thing this Galaxy S25 Ultra lacks is a very fast recharge (it takes almost an hour to recharge) to be totally irreproachable.
