Our opinion
Sandwiched between the classic Galaxy S22 and its maximum declination the S22 Ultra, the S22 Plus is one of the very high-end smartphones from Samsung, with great capabilities on paper but also high-end finishes.
In terms of design, Samsung has once again succeeded with a return to more elegant shapes and general lines, and more sober too. The Korean brand offers new colors and the photo module with its sensors blends well into the overall thickness. Nothing to complain about on the front with very thin screen edges, which are pleasant to the touch for a very pleasant grip, and just a small punch for the photo sensor for selfies.
As always, Samsung makes a flawless with the slab proposed on this Galaxy S22+, with a nice diagonal of 6.6 inches. Its beautiful definition of 2340 by 1080 pixels brings a pleasant comfort, for a nicely elongated screen, with a refresh rate that goes up to 120 Hz, for a perfect fluidity. A little trip to the settings will ensure a color rendering not far from ideal, the Korean manufacturer sometimes having a tendency to favor very, even too, bright colors. Finally, the infinite contrast goes hand in hand with a perfect brightness in all circumstances, even the most demanding.
Samsung decided to change its approach to the processor, but this choice did not pay off. Indeed, if the Samsung Galaxy S22+ does well in a classic use, the gaming experience quickly shows limits hardly acceptable on a high-end device, with the obligation to sacrifice graphic details or fluidity.
With its three sensors, the Galaxy S22+ has a classic photo configuration, with each lens complementing the other two. The main sensor, with its 50 megapixels, is certainly not to be ashamed of, but it's still far from the best cameras, with a bit of noise and blur that degrade the shot. The same is true in poor lighting conditions, with details that we would have liked to have been more marked and more numerous. There are even some small avatars on areas of the photos. On the other hand, the ultra wide-angle module is very well made and the rendering is quite good, on the whole image, and even a dark environment only moderately degrades the shot, which remains usable. The telephoto lens and its 3x zoom shows the same concerns as the main sensor with always this lack of detail that leaves on its hunger. If the selfies are not too much at the party with the sensor in front, it should be noted the subtlety of the portrait mode that allows a good progressiveness. The video mode is extremely complete and covers all the expectations that we can have on this type of high-end smartphone.
If the battery is less voluminous than on the Galaxy S21 Plus, the Korean manufacturer has done its work of optimization since the autonomy is in progress, and a day and a half of use will not be enough to put the S22 Plus flat. If this one accepts the load to 45 watts, in fact that does not make it fill faster, and there is moreover no charger provided: it will thus be necessary to use an old charger.
