Our opinion
Oppo is a newcomer to the smartphone sector, and this Find X shows the firm's ambition, which is a sign of a device that is destined for the high-end market without concessions. It has some great features that seem to justify its positioning.
The design will leave no one indifferent, because Oppo was bold and it is obvious. There are very thin edges on the screen, which makes a very strong impression. This is confirmed when the upper part is opened to reveal the cameras: the effect of the mechanical opening plays to the full, and the manufacturer promises a colossal number of openings before the worries that we may fear. This can only be verified during use, but the high quality finishes still reassure. It's a shame, however, that sealing or dust resistance is not present, such as NFC or a micro-SD port (there is 256 GB of storage, however), but this doesn't really spoil the overall picture.
The 6.4-inch screen has a beautiful resolution of 2340 by 1080 pixels, which allows you to enjoy this slab without fatigue. If it is of Amoled technology and therefore of infinite contrast like the Galaxy S9, its brightness is just good, but the Oppo Find X remains readable in most situations. However, it is the colour fidelity that could have been improved, especially at this price level. So the competition is doing better, but the colour temperature is not a problem.
There is no headphone jack on this smartphone, however, it comes with an adapter for the USB-c port, which provides good, balanced and powerful sound overall. The same cannot be said of the loudspeaker, which is alone at the lower edge and frankly struggles to convince.
Hyper powerful, Find X swallows any load without weakening, without slowing down. There is nothing to complain about, and this is confirmed by the video game experience, which is also of impeccable quality.
With two 20 and 16 million pixel photo sensors that both open at f/2,s the Find X showed great promise. In fact, in bright light, the shots are pleasant but lack a little detail and precision, due to a pronounced accentuation and a strong smoothing, even in HDR mode, which also slows down the whole. In the dark, it is also a little disappointing, with a smoothing here again at the expense of details, and dull colors: the whole is therefore a little behind what can be expected from a very high-end smartphone. In addition, the second sensor is only used to play on the depth of field, without any additional subtlety. Same concern on the front sensor: the selfies are smoothed to the extreme. Finally, the video is also struggling, with concerns about fluidity.
In terms of autonomy, this Oppo Find X is a sign of correct performance, if not stunning. The most economical will arrive at two days of use, but if you use it normally (for a device of this type), it still lasts a day and a half.
