Our opinion
After a very successful and impressive OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus makes a variation without the Pro attribute but without giving up to make a smartphone in the forefront, and it has some nice arguments to make.
Let's skip the small disappointment of finding plastic for the shell, which is not so bad after all because the Gorilla Glass protects the whole, and even if the smartphone is big and a bit heavy, it falls very well in the hand, with well located keys and a fingerprint reader quite responsive. If it is classic (alas) to no longer find a mini-Jack port, we can regret the absence of waterproof certification: you will have to avoid dropping it in the water! The 5G is however well and truly present.
The 6.55-inch panel is beautifully crafted. Defined as it should be (1080 by 2400 pixels) for a prolonged reading with the least possible discomfort, this screen requires a small turn in the settings to offer the most faithful colors. The infinite contrast goes hand in hand with a brightness that is always relevant, which makes the display of this OnePlus 9 a real success.
Nothing to complain about the power that this device offers, which is very richly endowed and handles multiple openings of applications without any worries, all without slowing down, like the most recent games, which run in excellent conditions.
For the photo, OnePlus is proud to announce its partnership with Hasselblad, a mythical brand of photography, which equip this smartphone with three sensors, a main one with 48 million pixels but also an ambitious ultra-wide angle sensor and a telephoto module. The first allows shots in 12 and 48 million pixels. The 12 megapixel mode does well, without too much smoothing, when the light is there, and displays a fairly realistic rendering on a fairly dark scene. With the 48 megapixels, the details increase dramatically, with again the contrast favored rather than smoothing. In dark scenes, the smartphone continues to offer realistic images, admittedly affected by the lack of light, but without visible and therefore unpleasant aberration. The ultra wide angle module does very well, despite the somewhat cold shots: there is detail, few distortions, and the rendering does not suffer too much from the lack of light. The telephoto lens lacks a bit of sharpness, and this OnePlus 9 is not one of the best in this area, even if the results are not prohibitive. On the other hand, there is little to complain about in portrait mode, nor on selfies despite the red tones that predominate a little, and video capture in 4K does not suffer from slowdowns.
In terms of autonomy, the OnePlus 9 comes out with honors, being able to last about a day and a half without having to be reconnected. The charger provided, very powerful, ensures a recharge of the fastest!
