Our opinion
OnePlus has set its sights on the top end of the market with the OnePlus 13, which has a very sober name, but shows great promise on all fronts and aims to compete with the biggest brands.
The design of this OnePlus 13 doesn't differ much from version 12, even if it is now perfectly flat and not with a curved screen. It's still perfectly finished, with a fiberglass back, a physical button to switch the smartphone to silent mode, and a slab protection announced as very resistant. Waterproofing is also on the agenda, with an IP69 standard (which also includes hot water!), and particularly complete and up-to-date connectivity, in addition to a fingerprint reader backed up by facial recognition.
The 6.82-inch diagonal screen is generously defined (3168 by 1440 pixels), ensuring comfortable reading. A refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz ensures fluidity, and brightness is always ideal, whatever the environment in which the smartphone is used. The last good point to be credited to the OnePlus 13's screen is its respect for colors, which are rendered with precision in their temperature.
There's no surprise in the power of this smartphone, which benefits from a very fine configuration that already enables it to handle any application without ever faltering or slowing down. Games, too, are handled to perfection, with almost constant fluidity, and above all without the OnePlus 13 overheating.
As for photography, there are three sensors to cover all the uses you'd expect from such a device. The main module, with its fifty million pixels, offers 12.5-megapixel shots per combination. The result is an unqualified success in all respects, with fine detail and color. Although smoothing is noticeable in low light, the overall rendering remains very good, with colors once again well managed. The 50-megapixel mode is not very effective, except for cropping. The ultra-wide-angle module also boasts 50 megapixels, for a very natural rendering, but lacks a bit of sharpness to fully convince, but on the plus side, the rendering of this lens remains usable in low light. With all 50 megapixels, the result is very good. For the zoom, it's better to have a bright scene to get good shots, but the overall result is more than up to the mark.
As for the rest, the 32-megapixel sensor on the front of the camera produces excellent selfies, while the effective portrait mode is sometimes a little too violent in its cropping. Video capture benefits from the latest refinements, and sound is carefully recorded.
With its very generous battery, the OnePlus 13 can withstand long periods of use. Autonomy is therefore very good, but it's above all its very fast recharging, with the right chargers (wired or not), that sets this smartphone apart.
