Our opinion
In a short space of time, Nothing has established itself as a renowned smartphone manufacturer, with a recognizable design and excellent value for money. This Phone (3a) Pro is no exception!
The general design of Nothing smartphones is also quite original. The LEDs indicate the type of notifications, the shell is transparent, and the photo sensors add a touch of style. The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro feels good in the hand, with good ergonomics overall, but it's heavy and doesn't lie flat very well. While the screen is covered by a protective film and the materials used are meticulous, we regret the absence of waterproofing, a standard that is becoming increasingly widespread.
The 6.77” diagonal screen boasts excellent definition (2392 by 1080 pixels), and proves comfortable even for long reading sessions. The refresh rate is not adaptive, but can go up to 120 Hz for pleasant fluidity. Brightness is also of a very high level, so that the slab remains legible in all light environments, and color fidelity is also spot on.
In terms of power, the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro has nothing to be ashamed of, even if it's not among the top smartphones. Nevertheless, it's powerful enough for everyday use, and games will run smoothly without major concessions to display performance.
For photos, there are 3 complementary sensors. The main module, with its 50 million pixels, is flawless, with good sharpness, sharp detail and well-rendered colors. A drop in brightness doesn't have too great an impact on the overall quality of shots, which lose just a few details. The ultra-wide-angle lens has eight megapixels, and therefore suffers from a slight loss of detail, but retains colors well. The telephoto zoom goes up to 3x, and beyond that, digital processing is used. Rendering is really good, but saturation is a little lacking, and in the dark rendering degrades in controlled proportions, even if digital noise gets in the way.
Portrait mode is very well done, but the processing is a little marked. The selfie sensor takes beautiful shots, with realistic colorimetry and a good level of detail. Video capture is good, with good resolution and fluidity.
In terms of autonomy, Nothing could have done better, but the Phone (3a) Pro lasts all day without a care, and recharging is quick with the appropriate charger.
