Our opinion
The P Smart had found its audience in the field of entry-level smartphones, but the renewal of the ranges is so fast that here is already the P Smart+, an evolution by Huawei.
Its design leaves no room for doubt: we are very close here to the P20 and its versions, with a notch on the front and an aluminium back, with a fingerprint reader. This one is therefore a fingerprint magnet, but for the rest, it is well finished, falls well under the fingers and remains ergonomic, and all that is missing is the waterproofness. A micro-SD port is present, but the use of a microUSB port still prevents fast charging.
The screen is generous in size, with 6.3 inches, long enough (19.5:9 aspect ratio), and sufficiently defined (2340 by 1080 pixels) not to cause eye fatigue. With a quick change in settings, the colours and their temperatures are accurate while remaining warm. The brightness is also excellent, and there is only the contrast a little lower, without being frankly disappointing, far from it.
Too bad the sound part isn't more powerful or precise: as it stands, the mini-Jack port is quite disappointing, and won't satisfy the most music lovers. The loudspeaker is not very accurate.
If in terms of daily use, which oscillates between browser, social network applications or other, the Huawei P Smart+ remains fluid in all circumstances and there is almost nothing to complain about. It is on the playful experience that the smartphone lacks a little power for the most powerful games.
The photo uses two photo sensors, one main and one second to work on the depth of field. The duo is doing well in daylight conditions, with just a slight smoothing in some areas. The darkness puts all this at risk, with much less marked contrasts, a general pale appearance and a smoothing that is even more noticeable. On the facade, there is the same concern for smoothing, but the overall quality remains very satisfactory, despite a somewhat unsuccessful work on the depth of field.
In terms of autonomy, Huawei has once again succeeded: the P Smart+ is very durable and takes more than two days to be drained of all energy, an excellent score.
