Our opinion
The "Pro Max" are the very top of the range of Apple, concentrates of technologies and standards of know-how of the Apple brand in terms of smartphone. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is therefore a concentrate of the best.
If the design of this new version of the iPhone Pro Max does not change much, we note with happiness the end of the prominent notch for the front sensor, which was used for unlocking with FaceID. Instead, there is a dynamic display, on which you can interact and which displays different information (such as the track being played), and it remains to hope that many applications will rely on it to make sense. As for the rest, we are on a classic ergonomics as proposed by Apple, with buttons that fall well under the fingers, but we must still point out a notable weight and a significant thickness. The latter is even more influenced by the prominent photo island. As for connectivity, nothing to complain about, and the presence of IP68 waterproofing is welcome and confirms the high-end positioning of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The screen of this iPhone is very generous, with a diagonal of 6.7 inches and a nice resolution that goes with these dimensions (2796 pixels by 1290), all with a refresh rate that goes up to 120 Hz. So many features that guarantee an ideal comfort, with a constant fluidity. Apple has ensured a perfect colorimetry, with faithful colors in their overall rendering without a passage in the settings is necessary. Finally, the brightness is once again ideal in all circumstances, so that the darkness as well as the strong light do not hinder the use of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
If the gain in power is not necessarily immense compared to the previous iPhone 13 Pro max, it is still true that this top-of-the-range Apple once again marks the spirits with an inordinate power, which allows it to ensure all uses without ever showing weakness. It should also be noted that the software optimization of the Apple firm guarantees a nice comfort of use for several years.
For the photo, Apple has trusted three complementary sensors. The main one, wide-angle, displays 48 million pixels, a figure that is reached by switching to the settings, the shots being taken in 12 million pixels. The choice here was obviously to make realistic shots, a little neutral, but the competition sometimes displays a little more detail. The same choice is present when the brightness drops, with however a contrast sometimes a little forced, but nothing very disturbing. There is nothing to complain about on the shots with the ultra wide-angle lens, it remains pleasant with always this small exaggeration of micro-contrast, but it remains in the best rendering, except in low light. The telephoto lens, on the other hand, is quite successful in its rendering of colors and details. The front lens and its powerful autofocus give very nice renderings for selfies of very good quality, with rich details. The portrait mode is not lacking in quality either, with a fairly fine clipping, and for video capture, the iPhone 14 Pro Max proves once again that it has nothing to envy to many cameras.
With this iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple once again signs a hyper-enduring smartphone, which can be used for almost two days before needing to be recharged. The only concern is that the fast charging is still not there, so you have to be very patient before you finish seeing the battery at 100%.
