Our opinion
Every new iPhone model is a big deal, because Apple's smartphone is so iconic and so powerful, yet so unique. This model 13 does not fail to showcase some very nice qualities, which ensure its place in the top of the range.
The design of this thirteenth version is very similar to the previous one: only a small embonpoint, a more marked thickness differentiate it, but alas what also remained is the notch - admittedly a little reduced - for the camera in front. On the back, its glossy coating is still fond of fingerprints, but there are obviously positive points: waterproofing is there and the general ergonomics remain unchanged. If the Lightning port is still there, there is no more Jack plug, and especially no more charger provided with the smartphone, which is more detrimental. If most of the time, music or sound in general will be received by a Bluetooth headset since the mini-Jack port has been removed, we must emphasize the quality of the speakers.
The screen of this iPhone 13 still has this slightly prominent notch. But past this disappointing point, there is nothing to complain about the display of this 6.1-inch diagonal slab, in OLED technology, which also has a brightness suitable for all light environments (and allows to bypass the reflections) and an infinite contrast. The resolution, set at 2532 by 1170 pixels, offers a good reading comfort, and the respect of colors is absolutely perfect. However, it lacks a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz, which is found on many high-end smartphones and brings a real plus.
The power of this new iPhone benefits from a new chip. However, it is difficult to see at first glance a progress because the iPhone 12 already had an impressive power, but the fluidity of all applications or games on this iPhone 13 is a constant pleasure, all without heating too much.
For the photo, Apple relied on two photo sensors, both with twelve million pixels, one dealing with the wide-angle and the other with the ultra-wide angle. The rendering of the first module is excellent in daylight conditions, with just a few cold tones, but a nice accentuation, details and a nice homogeneity. The results are still good in a darker place, with limited noise and still a lot of details, not to mention a short exposure time. The night mode corrects the exposure and makes the details more visible, which is very positive. The ultra wide-angle module also suffers a little from the poor exposure, but Apple has managed to limit the damage in less bright environments, for a very honorable overall result. For the video, this iPhone 13 is still as powerful, and the portrait mode as the selfies are as many successes.
The good surprise is that Apple has equipped this iPhone 13 with a more generous battery, with the result that its autonomy has increased significantly, so that you never have to worry about having to recharge at the end of a busy day.
